Csis joins #schoolstrike4climate

The Science in Society team joined with colleagues from across Victoria University of Wellington to join the #SchoolStrike4Climate on September 27.

We held a sign making session in the morning with the kids of CSIS. In keeping with the interests of our group, our signs called out the vulnerability of Antarctica and native species, and the dangers of unchecked capitalism and ongoing colonialism. Our younger members put their artistic talents to good use with vivid images of our endangered earth, and abstract-expressionist depictions of hope in times of uncertainty.

Signs in hand, we merged with the VUW contingent as they made their way off campus and into the city to join schools from throughout Te Whanganui-a-Tara. The energy, organisation, and focus of the march’s organisers and young attendees was absolutely palpable.
